Hi! My name is Molly Cormier. I’m an 19 year old aspiring videographer and editor. I currently attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where I’m majoring in mass communications. I’m also a proud Blue Gator alumni of Ascension Episcopal, where I discovered my love for videography and editing.
Growing up at Ascension, I learned very quickly in my 5th grade media class that videography was one of my passions. I’ve always had a genuine appreciation for the arts, but once my teacher introduced me to combining art with technology, I was all in.
As I continued my education, I entered Ascension’s high school campus eager to pursue my passion. I became a Technology Support Intern, where I learned that I not only wanted to create technology, but also help others navigate it. This is where I continued to create videos for Ascension. I dove deep into supporting and marketing all of what the campus had to offer, whether it was student life, spiritual life, athletics, arts, or community service.
Throughout my sophomore, junior, and senior years at Ascension, I discovered all types of ways to create artistic media. I even explored stop motion and creating Blue Gator Instagram filters.
I also continued to expand my passion by making videos while traveling. I was a member of Ascension’s dance team, Ascension Gator Jazz, for 5 years, and made multiple videos capturing our trips to DTU Nationals. I also have made videos capturing my family trips as well, including the wonders of Costa Rica and Europe. I adore capturing the special moments and experiences I have while traveling, and hope to one day continue my profession by capturing moments like them.
Lastly, I expanded my passion greatly into the world of sports media. As a girl growing up in a very athletic family, I grew strong interest in sports media. Whether its capturing the football, baseball, volleyball, soccer, golf, track, swimming, dance or cheer, I absolutely love and aspire to continue creating sports media.
With all of my experiences mentioned above, there’s only one thing I can conclude. I’ve learned a lot, and still have to learn so much. But, this field of crafting visuals for companies and organizations is something I definitely choose to be apart of. There’s something so rewarding about seeing the looks on people’s faces when they see their dreams consolidated into one little video. Whether it’s bittersweet tears or extreme excitement, I’ll always love this job if that means I can make someone feel something, or capture their memories to have for a lifetime.
